The Siege of the Couch Kingdom
A War-Hound Epic of Clover the Indomitable
Clover has officially entered her war-hound era.
Pack, come gather around the fire and hear this new epic tale of our heroic Dog Queen...
Peace reigned in the realm.
The Warrior Clover lay upon her back upon the Sacred Couch, belly exposed in confident sovereignty.
Her Human approached with affection. There were belly rubs.
There was trust.
There was… a knee.
Her Human, seeking brief relief for a weary hip, rested her leg upon the edge of the Couch Kingdom.
This was interpreted as an incursion.
Without rising, without warning, the Warrior coiled all four limbs inward.
Ancient muscles, bred for battlefield propulsion, tightened like drawn bowstrings. Release.
Her Human was relocated approximately four feet across the living room airspace.
She did not stumble. She did not cry out.
She simply departed her original coordinates and arrived behind the male human's seat of power (Justin's chair).
The Basin of Hydration was struck. The Waters were loosed.
The X-pen fell in noble collapse.
From the floor came a calm battlefield report: “And I’m down.”
The Male Human, still gazing into the glowing rectangle of distraction, responded without looking up: “What just happened?”
Moments later, still unseeing, he added gravely: “Why are my socks wet?”
For though the Warrior had struck, and though Her Human lay pinned beneath 145 pounds of enthusiastic rescue operations, the first perceived casualty was hosiery.
Meanwhile, believing Her Human mortally endangered, Clover launched into Emergency Protocol.
She leapt upon the fallen one and began administering Immediate Facial Restoration.
Not gentle. Not subtle.
With pointy, sharp, enthusiastic puppy-war-hound teeth.
For this is how Warriors save.
Her Human, contemplating possible hip fracture and active dental exfoliation, endured both the NylaBone Assassin embedded beneath her and the Emergency Teeth Above.
Only when the Male Human finally circled the chairs and beheld the battlefield did Clover spring upright — not in retreat, but in renewed urgency — rushing back toward her Human’s face for continued life-saving measures.
The NylaBone was extracted like battlefield shrapnel.
The Warrior was removed.
Her Human stood.
The Male Human, satisfied that catastrophic injury had not occurred (and that socks were indeed wet), moved away from Her Human.
She exclaimed, “Hey, wait. Where are you going?”
The Male Human replied, “To change my socks. Didn’t you hear? They are wet.”
He then began ascending the Staircase of Textile Restoration.
Her Human paused. Looked down. “Oh… mine too.”
Thus, she quietly followed him to the place where dry hosiery lives.
Thus concluded the Siege.
The Couch remained under Clover’s dominion.
Her Human survived airborne displacement and dental rescue.
The hosiery were replaced.
And the Pack endured.
Hear me, O Pack,
and draw close to the hearth’s warm glow.
Still your paws.
Still your laughter.
Attend the tale of Clover,
Dog Queen of the Sacred Couch,
She-Who-Kicks-With-Ancient-Legacy.
In those days, peace lay soft upon the realm.
The Warrior reclined in sovereign splendor, belly bared in fearless trust, four paws curled toward the heavens— a conqueror at ease.
Her Human approached with offerings.
There were rubs of the belly. There were murmurs of devotion.
There was harmony.
But lo— A knee.
A mortal knee, placed upon the sacred boundary of the Couch Kingdom.
No trumpet sounded. No banner fell.
Yet this act— this resting of weary hip— was marked in the Warrior’s mind as Incursion.
She did not rise. She did not warn. She gathered.
Four limbs drew inward, like storm clouds tightening over sea.
Muscles forged by hound and wolf and ancient chase-
coiled with battlefield memory.
Release.
And Her Human was lifted from original coordinates
and borne four full feet through living room airspace.
She flew. She did not cry out. She did not falter.
She simply relocated— from Couch Province to the Shadowed Territory behind the Male Human’s Throne of Sitting (known among mortals as Justin’s Chair).
There, the Basin of Hydration was struck. Waters were loosed.
The X-Pen fell in noble collapse.
And from the floor came the measured report of one who has seen battle:
“And I’m down.”
The Male Human, gazing still into the Glowing Rectangle of Distraction, spoke without lifting his eyes: “What just happened?”
Moments passed.
Then gravely: “Why are my socks wet?”
For though the Warrior had launched her campaign,
though Her Human lay beneath one hundred forty-five pounds of Loyal Emergency Response, the first casualty perceived was hosiery.
Yet Clover the Fierce believed not in accident.
She believed in crisis. Her Human had fallen.
Therefore— she must be saved.
The Warrior leapt. Emergency Protocol engaged. She administered Immediate Facial Restoration, not gently, not delicately, but with the enthusiastic precision of sharp young war-hound teeth.
For this is how Queens restore life.
Pinned beneath devotion and dental valor, her Human endured the NylaBone Assassin below—treacherous as battlefield shrapnel— and the valiant rescue teeth above.
She contemplated hip fracture. Exfoliation. Destiny.
At last the Male Human rose and circled the chairs to behold the battlefield.
Only then did Clover spring upright— not in retreat, never in retreat—but in renewed urgency, returning once more toward the endangered face to ensure survival.
The NylaBone was extracted.
The Warrior was lifted from the fray.
Her Human stood.
The Male Human, having confirmed the continued beating of hearts (and dampness of socks), turned away.
“Hey,” called the Fallen-Yet-Standing One, “Where are you going?”
“To change my socks,” he answered. “Didn’t you hear? They are wet.”
And he ascended the Staircase of Textile Restoration.
Her Human paused. Looked down. “Oh… mine too.”
Thus she followed, quietly, to the Chamber of Dry Hosiery.
And so concluded the Siege.
The Couch remained under Clover’s dominion.
Her Human survived airborne displacement and heroic dental salvation.
The Waters were dried.
The Hosiery renewed.
And the Pack endured
